The
longer I am married, the more I realize my parents' testament to the world. On
May 28, 2012 they celebrate 63 married years.
Relationships
change as each person matures, which tends to alter perceptions, views and
attitudes. But like every married couple committed to each other until parted
by death, my parents have worked hard to keep their marriage vows, through
bliss and not so bliss. I have seen them
put up little temporary walls, always taken down in short time. I have watched their interests intertwine.
And when their interests are separate, they are still as threads of the same
rope. From time to time, anger and sadness have pushed into their oneness,
attempting to divide them. Love has always conquered. Joy has flooded them,
too. They are very much alike after all these years. Yet they have allowed each
other to be individuals.
Their
example is of hope and determination. And committed true love.
What God
has joined together let no man put asunder. My husband and I deliberately guard
our marriage, letting nothing come between us, just as my kindhearted and caring
parents.
To Mom
and Dad I say thank you for being excellent role models of a love-filled and
joyful marriage in the 21st Century; I love you.

I wish more people would think about what they could do to save their marriages. Thank you for this.
"And when their interests are separate, they are still as threads of the same rope." Beautifully written and what a wonderful post for such wonderful people! And I love that picture! :)
