Why do I HAIKU?

Some have asked why I write haiku so often, especially since until this past Fall I am not sure I ever wrote any.
At the Heart of America Christian Writers' Network annual conference I attended a workshop on 'writing short.' The reality is, most of us can say all that needs to be said in fewer words than we're accustomed to using.
Haiku and Twitter are exercises to help us make each word worthy of its place. I love the challenge of both. And, it just might be helping me write more concisely, too. At least, I hope so.
