What will I do with the Gift of Christmas?

At Christmas the First Family was born. It is the perfect example of families living and worshiping together.
But though family is critical for the healthy propagation of mankind, Christmas still was not about family.  It is wonderful to be surrounded by family at this time of year, but Christmas is about The Gift.
At Christmas time many large families, pick names of other family members to give a gift to, instead of to the many relatives. On Christmas Day God picked all the names. He chose the name of each man and woman and child who ever did and whoever would have life and gave His Son.
And, so, we give gifts to one another. It is how we know joy just as God did as the plan to restore us to Him began to unfold.
The gift of Jesus – His life, His death, His resurrection and ascension – is for each of those created in God’s image.
The question remains: what will I do with the gift? Will I take it out on Sundays or special occasions like Christmas and Easter, and look lovingly at it? Or will I spend time with the Gift each day and allow It to transform me into His image of love?

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for your thoughts I really enjoyed reading it. We get caught up on the commercial aspects of Christmas. I had that problem this year cause we were unable to exchange gifts and this really bothered R. But he forgot what this day was really suppose to mean. thanks for the reminder linda
