I remember when I first wrote a children’s story how very happy I was because I was being creative in my gift.
The phrase, in my gift, is key to the fullness of a thought shared with me many years ago. When we lived in
I had had a desire to write children’s stories for a very long time. I decided that though I was going through a very trying season of life, I would make time to write. And through the fire of life, I had peace and found a sense of fulfillment that did not match the circumstances around me. We can be creative all day long when we have to be, i.e. figuring out how to do something at work or in the home, helping co-workers or children. But if it’s not in our gift, we do not experience the fulfillment that is meant to be ours and that we actually need for the balance of contentment.
I’ve expanded this thought to the concept that if we are created in His image, then intrinsically we possess all the attributes of God within. Some of them would be the capacity to love without condition, to forgive, to help, to heal, to be holy, as well as to create. When we align our lives on the outside with all of God within, and actively be who we ultimately are, we are then most content within our deepest being. And, rather than working to identify and develop our spiritual gifts, what if we, instead, developed our Godly attributes and became more like Him in our very character? Would not those spiritual gifts naturally follow?
Let us consider all the attributes of God, our Creator and Redeemer, and let us be active in our commitment to become more like Him in every way. Then we will truly know His peace. And, perhaps, who knows? We may become one with each other and one with Him, as He and The Father are One. And then there will be true Peace in the land.
