Mother’s Day. It’s origins, beginning in 1780, lie in the desire set aside a day to honor women and mothers who fought for peace and whose sons protected our country honorably in the military.
I am ever grateful to my mother who taught me how to love unconditionally, to be kind to others, to be hospitable and open my home to countless friends and strangers alike, and who, along with my father, taught me through action who God is.
And I am grateful to my three daughters without whom I could not be a mother, though the instinct was deep inside before they arrived on my scene. I could not flesh out the instinct until their birth. I love my daughters. Each has her unique and tremendous gifts. Each has a heart filled with love. Each shares that love with friends and family alike. I am proud of my daughters. They are kind and loyal. They are passionate about life. They seek to know God in His fullness.
This is a public note of thanks to my own mother. And to my three daughters: Rachel, Rebecca and Joanna. I could not be a mother without all four. I am blessed.
